COMPOSITION II FOR LIBERAL ARTS                          ENGL 2015

 
REASONS FOR TAKING THIS COURSE:               
 

  1. Take a composition class that meets general and specific programs.

 

2.   Have the option of making the course a 3.5 credit one with an honors component.

 

    *3.   Utilize a comprehensive Website, RIWA, that has been established just for this course and with it

 

      a.         have access to important research collections throughout the state.

      b.         have access to research collections outside the state and country.

      c.         learn about the contributions of women to the state’s cultural heritage.

      d.         tour museums in the state, country, and the world.

      e.         read student papers already online.

      f.          have access to professional articles by scholars already online.

g.         utilize an extensive bibliography, both general and specific, in your research project.

      h.         consult an MLA Review Sheet.

i.          be informed about lectures, exhibits, panel discussions relevant to your project, some coming to CCRI.

j.          benefit from the research of special collections librarians who have put in depth links on the Website.

      k.         read papers of scholars, some of whom will present their work to you at CCRI.

      l.          recognize the state’s rich cultural history.

      m.        possibly “publish” a paper: have an essay accepted and put online.

n.         review topics associated with research (paraphrasing, quoting – direct and indirect, narrative voice, citing sources, etc)
