Fundamentals of Writing

Professor Medeiros, Throughout the year I have learned or have been familiarized with many points of writing. I believe that I have met all my goals and have exceeded my own expectations in many ways. I am now able to write more effectively. At first my writing didn’t seem to carry a descriptive edge. I was unable to captivate a reader and hold their attention. Now I believe I have done that as well as lead them to ideas of there own. I’m able to separate my writing and group it in an order that is appropriate. This course has allowed me to develop a way to paint a mental picture with words. But the most important thing of all is it has allowed me to build a story or paper rather than try and pull one out of the thin air. It’s taught me ways to develop an idea and concentrate on it. Although I sway from the point often I am able to know when I do this and am able to change it. I demonstrated my ability to communicate an idea in a way I want the reader to understand it in the story of my job. With the research paper I outlined, listed, and grouped words to form the direction I want the reader to go. This took me out of the practice of being or trying to be a one-draft wonder. This writing course allows me to write rather than spend my time second-guessing myself. It has taught me to organize my thoughts and shown me how to place them in an order that is appropriate. It has brought me out of the black and white writing style I was accustom to and sparked some creativity, which I believe has shown itself in my work. I’m glad that I’m able to use my analytical thought from my prior experience and combine them with the techniques I learn in this class. |
