Learning Outcomes
At the completion of HMNS-2420 Field Placement & Seminar III students should be able to:
- Exhibit attributes of reliable attendance and promptness
- Provide competent role models for students in the areas of dress, language and behavior
- Establish and maintain rapport with students
- Develop skills in behavior management of small and large groups of students
- Control interactions among students within group settings
- Follow teacher’s directives in controlling students with behavioral difficulties
- Utilize teaching materials effectively
- Recognize individual learning styles
- Exhibit resourcefulness and flexibility in teaching techniques
- Develop lesson plans to include statements of instructional objectives
- Correct and record assessment results
- Assist in room organization and clean-up which enhances a conducive learning environment
- Investigate and present a 5 page research paper in accordance with MLA format
In addition, Field Placement and Seminar III students should be able
to accomplish the following three goals.
- Plan and carry out an instructional lesson for a small group of students
- Plan and carry out an instructional lesson for a large group of students
- Read a story and develop a follow-up activity related to the topic
These goals must be documented to include instructional objectives, learning outcomes and references to Beginning Teacher Standards.
Field Placement and Seminar III students will also be expected to
manifest pro-social behavior; such as,
- Work collaboratively and cooperatively with school personnel
- Accept supervision to promote one’s own learning and development as a professional
- Show a willingness to function as a team member
- Converse with staff members in an acceptable and professional manner
