At the completion of HMNS-2170 – Learning Disabilities -students should be able to:
 

• Restate the definition and characteristics of learning disabilities
• Recognize key concepts and perceptual terminology associated with the field of learning disabilities
• Summarize the neurological research which suggests brain dysfunction as a probable cause for learning disabilities
• Compare the diverse remedial approaches in the field of learning disabilities
• Cite the incidence of learning disabilities and Attention Deficit Disorder
• Interpret Special Education Laws and Procedural Safeguards
• Describe the referral process and the implementation of an Individual Education Plan
• Differentiate procedures for assessing and evaluating learning disabled students
• Administer and interpret the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test and the Wide Range Achievement Test
• Interpret the Wechsler Intelligence Test for Children
