TRADITIONAL WESTERN MONOTHEISM
An Analogical Representation
The following diagram is offered as an
analogical representation of the relationship between the simple essence
and multiple attributes of the Western theistic God. It is designed
to clarify, though not necessarily resolve, a conceptual contradiction or
paradox in Western monotheism. If God’s essential nature is
ultimately unitary, simple, or one then why is He conceived in terms
of a plurality of divine attributes?
