 NATIONAL CEMETERY GRAVES:
FEDERAL/UNION SOLDIERS

The Shiloh National Cemetery was constructed to honor the Union dead.
Their bodies were brought to this resting place. Most gravestones name the Union soldier who is buried in the spot.
This contrasts with the treatment of the Confederate soldiers' bodies. These were never removed from the battlefield burial trenches.
A simple stone monument was erected by the Confederate Daughters is their only memorial structure.
