Physiology Laboratories

OBJECTIVES:

The physiology laboratories are designed to help you achieve the following goals:

            -  to become familiar with some of the equipment and procedures used by physiologists

            -  to demonstrate some of the concepts and mechanisms being studied in lecture

            -  to apply knowledge gained in lecture to explain the results of the experiments

POLICIES:

g  Laboratory attendance is mandatory. If you must miss a lab, you are expected to make up the missed

work by attending an alternate lab section with permission of the lab instructor.  Excessive lab swapping

is not permitted.  For each lab absence after the first, 10 points will be deducted from the final lab grade.

Homework assignments for missed labs will not be accepted.

g  You are expected to read through the material to be covered before coming to lab.  Prelab quizzes

(quizzes for the upcoming lab) are on Blackboard.  The quiz will be available one week before the lab.

You can take the quiz as many times as you want.  The highest grade will count.  Your prelab quiz average

will count as a quiz in your lab grade.

g  There will be an in class quiz at the beginning of each laboratory.  The quiz will cover the previous lab.

There are no make-up quizzes but the lowest lab quiz will be dropped.

g  Most labs will require a lab report.  Some labs will require individual lab reports and some labs will require one

lab report per group.   Lab reports are due the week after the lab is performed.  They will not be accepted late.

GRADING:

                        10%     Lab reports

25%     (The lab grade is 1/4 of the final grade for your course)

You must earn a passing grade in the laboratory to pass the course.
