June 6, 2006

Great meeting! CCRI’s Knight and Liston chapters of Delta Epsilon Chi have teamed up to discuss and prepare plans for the following academic year.

The June 6 meeting mainly seemed to be a brainstorming session; we have created a lot of ideas and plans to fundraise and recruit for the next year, which right now is our main focus. As you read through the minutes, take note to the ideas we have devised and who is responsible for organizing them. We should be as prepared as possible for the next meeting on July 11 to put our plans into action. From the next meeting on, we will have less than two months to implement our fundraising and recruitment strategies. Also, if there is a specific task that is assigned to someone other than yourself, it does not mean you cannot participate in that. Team efforts and assistance from everyone is highly encouraged. Please keep a record of the contacts from our meeting and contact others if you have ideas. Excellent job! I think it is unanimous that working together will bring great things!

Fundraisers – As we all know, CCRI’s DEX budget will be cut. Together, the Knight and Liston DEX chapters have decided to set forth effort into hosting the following events to raise money for our chapters. Distribution of funds to the two chapters is something we will need to discuss and compromise.

Car Wash – Sam’s Club

Responsible: Tim Seveney -Tim will contact Sam’s Club to set up dates and times for DEX students to host a car wash. Further details will be discussed at the next meeting on July 11.

Boston Night Raffle – Boston Red Sox tickets, Hotel + Dinner at Vinny T’s

Responsible: Joseph Moore -Joseph has purchased a hotel room in Boston for one night, which will tie into a night out in Boston w/ Dinner at Vinny Testa’s and tickets to a Boston Red Sox games OR tickets to a theatre show.  Raffle details will be discussed at the next meeting.

 Mini-Golf Night – Mulligan’s Island

Responsible: Frank Sullo - Frank will contact Mulligan’s Island Mini-golf to try and find out information about group ticket rates, discounts, donations, and other information needed to put together a fundraising/recruitment event for DEX students. Frank will inform us of his findings at the next meeting.

*Volunteering for Vice President Poindexter – Calling CCRI students

Responsible: Bob Carosi - Bob will speak with Vice President Poindexter about setting up EVENING dates in AUGUST for DEX members to call CCRI students who are signed up, but not yet registered. We agree that this will be important, because this may be a way for us to keep out budget from getting cut. We ask that students set forth as much effort as possible with this task. Further plans and details will be discussed at the next meeting.

Fall Recruitment – To bring our membership numbers up, we have devised a couple of strategies to enhance our recruitment efforts for the Fall; internal marketing and recruitment events. Internal marketing; we want to develop a relationship with enrollment services to distribute our brochures, and encourage the rest of the faculty and staff to promote our club. Working with faculty and requesting in-class presentations has proven to be effective and we plan to do so again this year. Recruitment Events; by hosting a mini-golf night and “All Clubs Day” w/ a PowerPoint presentation and brochures, we hope to bring attention to DEX.

 PowerPoint Presentation

Responsible: Richard Cameron - Richie has a PowerPoint presentation available to use during an “All Clubs Day” and for in-class presentations. Any pictures of DEX students/events from the year will be needed; send to Richie at RCamero1@ccri.edu. We would also like volunteers to present this during classes, and to take on the responsibility of preparing this for the “All Clubs Day.”

 Brochure/Pamphlet

Responsible: Richard Cameron/ Joseph Riveira - Richie and Joe will work together to create a brochure to hand out during “All Clubs Day” and for Enrollment Services to distribute. Note: We want to represent DEX to the best of our ability, so everyone’s participation for ideas and suggestions is more than welcomed. Be prepared to share ideas at the next meeting.

Creating a Slogan/Caption – Delta Epsilon Chi. What does this mean to outsiders?

One of the main comments we hear from people not associated with DEX is that they have no idea what Delta Epsilon Chi is. What can we do to change this? WE NEED A SLOGAN that will identify who we are! This is something that Richie as a State Officer wants to present to the State, so this process may take time. Suggestions are more than welcomed. We have a pool of creativity between our chapters, so let’s hear it!

Social Events - Let’s have some fun! - Paw Sox Game

Responsible: Bob Carosi- The Alumni Association is sponsoring a PAW SOX Night at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket on Tuesday August 15, 2006.  The normal price for this

game is $30.00.  The tickets are discounted at $20.00 each and includes

the game, barbecue under the tent and music from our own CCRI pep band,

Bob needs to hear from everyone as to who would want to go.  Please e-mail him at Carosi@ccri.edu if you are interested in going and making it a Delta Epsilon Chi

Night as well.  These tickets go fast so I need to hear from you by June 14, 2006.
