To all Delta Epsilon Chi Members and Potential Members!!!

Thank you to those of you, that stepped up and attended our first organizational meeting on Tuesday, 1/24/06. We had a great turn out and I am so thrilled to see so many leaders in one Room!

Highlights of the Meeting:

1. We will be known as the Knight Leaders - The Warwick Campus Chapters of Delta Epsilon Chi and SkillsUSA work together.

2. Election of Officers will be held at our February 7th Meeting. At the current time, we have approximately 10 leadership positions to fill - 6 for Delta and 4 for SkillsUSA - However, We need to elect a State Representative for Delta (DEX) as soon as possible. Our next state meeting is Monday 2/6/06 The State Representative will represent the Warwick campus at State Association Meetings, and become a member of the State Officer Team. Here's the state website: http://dexri.com  This individual must be available for monthly meetings (usually the 3rd Monday of the month at 3:30 pm. The State Officer Team chooses to meet more frequently according to everyone's schedule

3. Regional Competition - Friday 2/10/06 - 8:00 - 2:00 pm. Johnson & Wales University - Harborside Campus. . For directions follow this link: http://jwu.edu/prov/dir_harb.htm  We need to submit names to the Program Chair next week.  While many of you have never competed before, I will set up a time to give you an overview and we can run a few practice sessions.. There are many different categories to compete in? Please see the attached poster. Business simulations include a role play with a judge and a test. Case studies are analyzed by you and you present your analysis and recommendations to a judge. (I will be judging one of these activities). The Chapter will pay your registration Fee. You get a free lunch as well!!!

4. National Conference - April 22 - 25, 2006, Dallas, TX. Approximate cost is $650 per student (4 students per room). However, as a member the Chapter you will only pay 25% ($150) of the cost. We will be traveling on Thursday the 21st and Wednesday the 26th. There are competitive events as well as a Management Institute. For more information about this conference go to: http://www.delta-hq.org/compevents.html  The Knight leaders will work with other chapters in the state to prepare you for competition. Our deadline is coming up soon.

5. The State Association for SkillsUSA state competitions are held in March, many during the Spring Break at CCRI campuses. Winners at the State Level are eligible for the National Competitions held in June in Kansas City. There are several competitive events available. More details to follow.

6. Leaders present discussed the need to increase excitement and participation at the campus level as well as at regional and national conferences. Plan to bring some ideas about activities we could sponsor that would benefit all students, recruitment and fundraising. We have enough money to bring 10 students to Dallas in April, but would like to bring more!!!!
