How to get your free software

Please Note: Due to the complexity of this method, I suggest you download the program directly from Microsoft, then do steps 1-11 below to get a serial number with which to validate your downloaded copy.

If you decide to download from ELMS/MSDN Academic Alliance, then do all steps below. Before you begin, insert a CD in your CD tray on which to burn the software download. The software download is an .ISO file which, after burning to the CD, can be used to install the program from the CD onto your machine.

Step 1: Click on the link in the e-mail to open the MSDN academic alliance web site and click th "Login" button.
Step 2: Login using the username and password sent to you in the e-mail.
Step 3 - Click on the link under "Announcements" and read. Then hit the "Back" button on your browser to return to this page. Step 4. Click on the little arrow next to the "Search by product titles" field. Then select "Expression Web" from the fly-out menu which appears. Step 5. Click on the "Go" button. Step 6. Make sure that the radio button next to "Download" is selected, then click on the "Add to cart" button. Step 7. Read the "Student Use Guidelines" and click on the "I agree" button. Step 8. Click the "Check out" button. Step 9. Fill-in your customer information, deselect the check-box if you don't want to receive their newsletter, then select the "Next" button. Step 10. Print a copy of this page for your records, then click on the "Download" link. (Note: the message, "Please click on the program name for additional...etc." --I believe can be ignored, as there is no place to click as described.) Step 11. The page below I would also suggest printing. if you can't print, be sure to write down the serial number, as this is the number you will need to activate the program upon opening. NOTE: If you have already downloaded and installed the program from Microsoft directly, you can stop at this point and write down the serial number to use to validate your already installed program. You do not need to download another copy. Step 12. Select "Save" when the file download pop-up box appears. When the "Save to" box appears, save the file to your desktop. When the download is done, select "close". to close the "File download" pop-up box. Step 13. Go to your desktop and double-click on the "Downloader_for_Expression_Web" file. Step 14. Click the "Run" button when the "Open file" pop-up box appears. Step 15. Click the "Continue" button. Step 16. The download progress will be displayed at the bottom of the next window. Step 17. If you haven't done so already, insert a CD in your CD tray. Step 18. Click the "Launch Install" Step 19. When Explorer pops-up with the installed .ISO file showing, right-click on the file, select "Send to...", then click on your CD burning program. Step 20. After the program burns the .ISO file, close the CD burning program, open the CD tray, (if it's not already open) then close the tray again to initiate the Expression Web installation program. Step 21. When the EW installation screen calling for the 25-character key or serial number appears, enter the 25-character serial number you copied or printed in step 11.
