COURSE DESCRIPTION (15-week course)
This course is designed to familiarize the student with the development and publication of basic World Wide Web sites. The student will learn to create a web site using Microsoft's Expression Web development program. The student will learn to:
- Create a Web site
- Add Text and Links
- Structure and Style Text
- Style Page Elements
- Work with Color
- Work with Images
- Publish a Web Site
- Create and Style Tables
- Design Pages with Layers
- Create a Form
- Use Dynamic Web Templates
- Create Advanced Typography Using CSS
- Position page elements using CSS
- Work with Templates
During the final 5-week portion of the class, (weeks 11-15) the student will learn how to maximize the accessibility of their web pages by separating design from content through the use of cascading style sheets (CSS).
Prerequisites:
The college does not have prerequisites to taking these courses, however, in order to get the most out of the class, a basic knowledge of the Windows operating system (Vista) and Word processing skills is strongly recommended. A familiarity with the World Wide Web, browser programs such as Internet Explorer and Firefox and some knowledge of HTML will be helpful. Sending and receiving e-mail through your CCRI e-mail account will be required for all students of these courses so, a working knowledge of how to use Pipeline e-mail will be necessary.
