Detail description

Detail Photo

We went shopping, and then we made a paper template and set it on the wood after we made the measurements. We cut out the wood then we measured on the piece of sheet metal we bought how long and wide we would need the sheet metal.

After we cut out the rectangular shapes of sheet metal that we needed we conformed the sheet metal to the arc of the wings on the wind turbine. After we had conformed it to the arc we cut slits on the edges of the metal so when we had to bend it and drill it the metal wouldn’t crimp.

We had a 12 inch piece of copper tubing and we put the bearings in the tubing and then super glued the bearings to the inside of the tubing. We then slide the bar-stock through the holes of the two bearings.

We had taken the magnets and in alternating polarity glued each of the 8 bearings to the bottom of the piece of the turbine that rotated.

After the glue set we then lined up the magnets with the outlines of where the coils were to go and then we glued down the coils.

We used washers as spacers to support the weight of the turbine also making sure that it didn’t resist anything. It left us room for adjusting

Turbine Test Procedures

We took several tests on the wind turbine. We took three sets of data from each challenge of its testing one was producing electricity with no resistance then, at the same wind speed we took data with 200 ohms of resistance, and finally at the same wind speed we took data from 100 ohms of resistance. We repeated these steps several times until we achieved a maximum wind speed and voltage.
