Course Overview

This course provides the foundation for understanding the physical, social, intellectual and emotional needs of children. Students will explore various teaching styles for observing, assessing and guiding the growth and development of young children. As part of this course students are required to spend additional time observing children in early care and education settings.

In addition to weekly class meetings, requirements will include:

HMNS-2100 is an introductory course, so there is no specific pre-requisite.  It is strongly recommended that students pursuing an Associate in Arts Degree complete HMNS-1010 - Orientation to Human Services so that they may be eligible for Field Placement.
