Course Description
This course involves a field setting and seminar designed for advanced refinement of instructional skills and for the delivery of developmentally appropriate curriculum that meets both the individual and group needs of young children. This competency-based progression culminates in students’ taking full charge of the childhood program during the last part of the semester. Students complete their professional portfolio. (Prerequisites: HMNS 1010, 1210, 2100, 2120, 2310. Grades of “C” or better required.)

Course Requirements
- Attendance at the assigned field placement six hours weekly, completing between 78-90 hours over the semester
- Attendance and participation in a one hour weekly seminar
- Completion of Field Journal writings
- Portfolio Development
Field Placement III Requirements
- Apply theory and knowledge of child development to curriculum
- Plan for and assume greater responsibility for with small and large groups of children
- Gain insight into overall responsibilities of an early childhood educator
- Develop and implement an original, hands on activity that all children can participate in
