Course Description: This course is designed to improve study skills in other academic areas. It also is designed to meet individual needs in basic comprehension and vocabulary. 3 credits

Course Requirements: 1. Pretest Reading Placement (Compass and CCGPT)

TBA – (to be arranged)
One to two hours of "lab"/week based on placement scores, which is in addition to the 2 lecture hours. Total class time per week 3-4 hours.

Quiz each week based on readings from text.

No make up quizzes will be given.

No more than 3 absences for both class and lab. One point will be deducted for each class missed in the final average.

Completion of special projects (2)

Completion of all homework assignments.

Grading: Final grades are based on the following:

1/3 Post Test Score (Reading Comprehension)

1/3 Quizzes (14)

1/3 Final Exam (Based on textbook)

"A" Grade = A average on quizzes and final exam.

-52% or better on Standardized Post Test

-no more than 3 absences

-completion of assigned lab hours and projects. Class

participation.

"B" Grade = B average on quizzes and final exam

-40% range on Post Test

-completion of assigned lab hours

-no more than 3 absences

"C" Grade = C average on quizzes and final exam

-30% range on Post Test

-completion of lab hours

-no more than 3 absences

"D" Grade = D average on quizzes, final exam

-20% range on Post Test

-more than 3 absences

-incomplete assignments and lab hours
