PREREQUISITE

       Knowledge of Windows-Visual Basic is the programming language of Windows.

TEXT/MATERIALS

    Text:  Clearly Visual Basic Programming with Microsoft Visual Basic 2008

        Author Diane Zak

    Software: Any version of Microsoft Visual Studio.Net 2008

    Visual Basic Express 2008 set is bundled with the book.

    USB Drive for classroom students.

    COURSE DESIGN

    The course is broken down into 15 classes.

HOMEWORK/ASSIGNMENTS

    Assignments are to be submitted on assigned date. After due date a 30% late charge will be assessed.  After two weeks from the due date, the assignment will not be accepted. If an assignment is graded under 70%, you can resubmit the assignment with the corrections and receive a late charge.

 

EXAMINATIONS

    There are three-chapter examinations and a written final examination. The first examination covers Chapters1 through 8, the second examination covers Chapters 9 through 16, and the third examination covers 17 through 26. The final examination will cover all the material presented in the course.

GRADING:

Assignments 40% -Three hour examinations 10% each - WebCT's Chapter Tests 10%-Final examination 20%

  OTHER

Students are expected to keep up with course material.

You must do your own work.

Any student who misses an exam will be able to make up the exam within one week of the date the student returns to class. If the student did not give prior notice before the exam, the grade on a make-up exam will be reduced by 20%. .

I reserve the right to raise or lower grades based on subjective values such as attitude, class participation, preparation, understanding of material, etc. This syllabus may change.
