 Activity 13-1 Creating User and Group Accounts in YaST

Login using VNC- URL- http:// 216.19.113.42:5801-VNC authentication  root password- xxxxxx.  Login with your Student# - password - pass##.  Follow the steps of the activity. Please be patient.(step 4 only double click once-it may take a minute or two!).  Name the group MfgYourLastName.  Print Screen. Do not do step 8. In step 9 name the user  Your first initial and last name(jSmith). Print Screen step 9g after you select your mfggroup. Stop after completing step 9. Close Security and Users- Close YaST.

Activity 13-2 Exploring the Linux Command Line Interface

Follow the steps in Activity 13-2 starting with step 2 after you close the tip,click the Terminal icon-(If necessary, close the tip).  After completing step 5b, Print Screen. (6a space after cd)-After completing step 6c, Print Screen, and after completing step 6d, Print Screen. Close the terminal screens.

 Activity 13-4 Accessing Online help

Follow instructions and label and record your favorite site. Close Konqueror- go to the next activity.

 Activity 13-7 Creating a Linux Directory Structure

Click the Novell icon-System-File Manager-Home-right click the white on the desktop- Create New- Folder- name it your first  initial last name(jSmith)-ok-Print Screen. Close Konqueror-Continue to the next activity.

 Activity 13-10 Using NFS to Share a Directory

Novell-System-YaSt-root password-Click the Network Services icon-scroll and double click NFS Server(May take a minute or two!)-click Start if necessary-click Next-click Add directory-browse for your directory you created in activity 13-7( under Home –Student#)- Print Screen-Cancel-Cancel-Yes-close YaST-Right click the screen-Logout(student#)-Logout-Close Remote Desktop.

Activity 13-A Using Novel Services on Linux: eDirectory

Login to Web Services-https://216.19.113.42  Click Continue to this WebSite on Problem Website Security Certificate. In Web Services page click Network Management, iManager, login to imanager(on right hand side-Open iManager)-Login with UserName-Admin, Password-root password for Linux, tree-216.19.113.42. Open eDirectory Administration, Modify object, browse, click arrow next to SuseOrg-Print Screen.

Activity 13-B Using Remote Manager

Login to Remote Manager-https:216.19.113.42:8009-Continue to this WebSite-login with root username and root password. Print Screen of Remote Manager.
